Room 322, Monday Evening
Didi had gone to bed besotted with Raven, and woken up very much ... not.
Not that she had anything against Raven. She was a sweet girl and a good friend. But the whole thing tasted strange in her mouth, especially that she'd let Jono go. She wasn't letting herself think about the sting of that bit.
She spent the day hiding in bed. It wasn't like her, but she figured she'd pout in enough long days of work in her life that one under the covers wouldn't hurt anyone. She left the door closed.
[OOC: Door closed. Post open to anyone who may be looking for her -- or the roomie, if he's around.]

He gave her a small nod, and something that could almost be an attempt at a returned smile.
//Evening, luv.// Here was where he commenced being awkward and stupid until he could kick himself in the arse to make words that meant something. //How's yer day been?//
Stupid question.

"Uh. You know." Didi moved away from the door, smoothed the bed so they'd both have a place to sit. "Quiet. Lot of ... thinking."
Brooding, she meant.
no subject
Because, funny thing, he'd probably had some of the same on his own mind.

He shook his head, seeming for a moment about as lost and confused as he actually felt, before making an admirable effort at wrestling that dazed look from his eyes.
no subject
Which ... wasn't supposed to happen, and she looked puzzled when she said that.

//It wasn't just me, then? I mean, out of nowhere, and gone just as quickly?// And now he was reaching for her hand, because bloody hell, he needed to, right then. A lot. //Bloody island has us all going barking mad, or something. I don't want Raven. I want you.//
It didn't seem like Fandom's usual cock-uppery, really, but that seemed like an almost feasible explanation regardless.

She took his hand and squeezed it. "If it was my sister-brother, I will kill it. In its sleep."
no subject
//What I want to know now is, why Raven in particular? Of all th'people on the island?// He was now twining his fingers between hers, his eyes on her hand. //Seems a bit specific, almost. Yer and yer, fall for her, but only for th'weekend.//
no subject
She trailed off in thought.
no subject
//Something more Raven-centric, perhaps? I wonder if it was just us that it touched.//
Somebody had been too busy attempting to 'sleep on it' to listen to the radio last night.
no subject
She made a face. "Could Raven do something like this on purpose? She's so sweet."
no subject
And if it was an accident, then thinking on the reasons why would probably only make Jono's nonexistent heart break in other ways.
//We're talking about th'gel who sat out on a food fight because it was too violent,// he added. And then, a moment later, he was flopping backward to join Didi. She looked comfortable, was all.

//And if that's the case, then she's got to be absolutely heartbroken.//
Nevermind that he still couldn't figure out what it was that girls seemed to see in him. That point was far from his mind right then. For now, just the fact that he was going to have to be the one to do the heartbreaking was leaving a phantom taste where his mouth was supposed to be. One he didn't particularly like. She had, after all, told him that she cared. A lot. And while he didn't reciprocate those feelings, she was still a friend.
no subject
She craned her neck a little to find his eyes. "You're a really good person, do you know that?"
... which might answer the question of what girls saw in him.
no subject
Though, really, the way he saw it? It really did take one to know one. You had to be one hell of a person to look past the obvious outsides to figure out that there was a Jono in there, too. Most people he met never did seem to get that far.
no subject
She'd take that moment of dorkiness, too.
no subject
And now he was reaching up to poke her nose. Because it was right there and it was adorable, and Jonothon had no self-control at the moment, apparently.
no subject
And his nose was getting poked, too, in revenge.
no subject
//At th'risk of sounding repetitive, luv, it takes one to know one.//
He felt better now. Lots.
no subject
She, too, felt infinitely better.
