Didi didn't check her email often, but she was grateful she had today. Someone had posted a message on her Facebook page.

I don't know if you're the same girl I think you are, it read, but even if you aren't you look cool so I hope you are cool and will just delete this and not decide I'm some freak. This is Hazel. The pregnant girl from the concert last summer. I mean, I'm not pregnant anymore. His name is Alvie. Anyhow, Donna -- Foxglove -- has her record release party Wednesday, and if you want to come to New York you're totally welcome. I would really like to see you. Let me know?

Didi smiled as she read it, then tapped in a short note saying she'd be there if she could before calling Jono and going to pack. It felt like a good time to get out of town for a few days.

"Hello," Didi returned, holding up two near-identical black tank tops before shrugging and folding both into her overnight case. "So -- how would you feel about going to New York for a couple days? My New York."

Right along with the near-identical black tank tops and the fact that he would be going to Didi's New York most likely with Didi.

//Well, I don't have anything particularly pressing tying me to the island,// he noted. //A shift tomorrow at Groovy Tunes, perhaps. But I've been good about attendance, I don't imagine anybody would be too horribly upset if I took one day off.//

"There might be a record release party?" Didi hinted, smiling at him. "That singer Foxglove -- I mentioned her before. She's finally putting something out. So I think it counts as work for the record store.."

"Well, of course you'd go just for me," she said. "This is like ... a reward for making it through the school year. And you aren't barmy."

She went over to give him a hug. "Thanks. Cities are more fun when you're with someone."
